Coach Sanders

Herb ‘Coach’ Sanders is the Executive Director of Full Count Baseball Ministry, a non-profit organization. Full Count Baseball Ministry exists to Encourage, Teach and Develop youth to model a Christ-like behavior, utilizing the fundamentals of baseball. ‘Coach’ has spent over forty years committed to youth and families in various positions with the Colorado Department of Juvenile Corrections. Since entering the ministry in 1992, he has served as the Administrative Pastor at Antioch Community Church, Program and Ministry Director for Friends in Transition (prison ministry), and Client Manager with Save Our Youth (youth mentoring), Denver, Colorado. He was affiliated with Fellowship of Christian Athletes and Young Life Ministries.
‘Coach’ Sanders, a highly regarded Denver Prep League Coach has been active in youth baseball for over forty years. He served as the Varsity Baseball /Softball Coach at Montbello High School from 1993 through 2004 and Manual High School from 2007 through 2012. ‘Coach’ has also participated in Opportunity Through Baseball and coached the junior All-Star Team with the Colorado Rockies’ RBI-Reviving Baseball Inner City. During his tenure at Montbello, he received the Rocky Mountain News Coach of the Year, 1999; Denver Prep League Coach of the Year, 1999; and the recipient of the 2001 Colorado Rockies Pioneer Award. Recipients of the Pioneer Award are selected for their contributions to baseball in Colorado. ‘Coach’ Sanders had the opportunity to throw out the game ball on Jackie Robinson Day at Coors Field, April 15, 2004.
‘Coach’ received his Master of Arts Degree from Denver Seminary in Youth/Family Ministry in May 2005. In 2006, ‘Coach’ developed an after school mentoring program, for boys grades K through 8, called Boy’s Night Out (BNO), within the Whittier community in Denver, Colorado. In 2013, Coach Sanders responded to God’s call and he and his wife Mary moved to Jackson, Mississippi to continue their call in serving God’s people. In 2017, Coach Sanders was inducted into the 8th class of the Colorado Dugout Club Baseball Hall of Fame. The Sanders’ are members of Redeemer Church, Jackson, Mississippi.
